I'm a little biased because I've always loved the Fallout series - I even completed Fallout 3! Moving on to New Vegas was great, and Fallout 4 was a blast (literally) but one element has always been missing from the series - which is of course, a multiplayer mode.
With Fallout 76, Bethesda have answered our prayers and provided a huge game-world in which we can choose to adventure solo, team up with friends, or make new friends with other survivors. There are plenty of options. The first time I played Fallout 76 a couple of weeks ago, I had just ventured out into the wasteland and had found a rifle. It was a weapon with a very slow first-rate and low damage, so when a bunch of feral dogs came and attacked me I was pretty much toast. That is until out of nowhere, a flash of blue and yellow (the Vault-Tech outfit), it was a player (let's just call him Mexicano1337 as I can't remember his actual gamertag) who leaped to my rescue, firing his much better weapon at the dogs that were attacking me, killing them all. He looked at me as if to say either "gear up, this game is hard", or "give up, you're terrible". Mexicano then disappeared into the distance.
I've been playing periodically over the past few weeks and I have to say the game is enjoyable. I wouldn't say you could play it for hours on end as you do find your focus leaving you, but it's a great treat of a game once or twice a week after work - a treat made even better knowing the Fallout 76 world contains kind real players who will jump to your rescue if they see you struggling.
