Take everything you know about TV or cinema fight scenes, what you're about to witness in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 is the longest, most intense (and poorest-lit) fight scene you'll ever see, as it is essentially an 82 minute long fight scene with dragons and it's raining fire. That's if you're wearing your night vision goggles, as it has to be said the lighting of the episode isn't the best.
I sat in my living room gradually switching lights off, shutting doors and squinting harder and harder, but that aside, I didn't want it to end. A feature-length episode that you just want to keep going and going. The production value, choreography and costumes are sublime, with character progression coming to a point in all of the big-guns.
There are deaths, some of the biggest, longest serving characters get wiped out (valiantly) this episode, and *SPOILER ALERT*, here's a list of the characters we lost this episode:
- Ser Jorah Mormont
- Theon Greyjoy
- Lyanna Mormont
- Dolorous Edd
- Beric Dondarrion
- THE NIGHT KING
So where do we go now? Arya flew out of the shadows to stick him with the pointy end of her dagger, shattering the baddest character of them all into a million pieces, subsequently putting a stop to all other undead creatures in the land. But is it really over just like that? Will the battle for the Iron Throne recommence in Episode 4? Well now it's time to wait another week, learn how to change the contrast and brightness on your TV and speculate, what happens next.
